Rotary Club of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, admitted at the Rotary International as a new club on April 27, 1990. The chartered club was given the Registration. No. by RI as # 27133. The birth of this new club was achieved as the result of sincere and untiring efforts of its Charter President - Late Rtn Shafique Ahmed Bhuiyan and some enthusiastic members under the leadership of Late Rtn PDG M Mosharraf Hossain PHF. The club was sponsored by Rotary Club of Shyamoli, Dhaka.
The Club has successfully hosted a number of District Meetings and Programmes. To mention a few: (i) two Presidents Elect Training Seminars (PETS) & Secretaries Elect Training Seminars (SETS) in 1992 & 1996. (ii) Joint hosting of District Conference -1995 & (iii) Seminar on "WORLD PEACE & UNDERSTANDING" in 1995 and 1997.
Directors and Members of the Club take the opportunity to announce their determination not only to enjoy the opportunity of acquaintance, fellowship and friendship amongst themselves and others but also to uphold the high ethical standard in their business and professions in order to extend "Service Above Self" to the community as well as the advancement of International understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship and professional support.
In Rotary Year 2011-12 the club hosted District Rotary Leadership Training Seminar on May 21, 2012 under the leadership of Rtn. PDG Dr M Mosharraf Hossain where PP Rtn. M. Ali Hossain was the seminar Chairman.
Rotary Club of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka has organized, developed and completed several humanitarian projects in different sectors. Under area of focus Water & Sanitation, the club has built a remarkable number of sanitary latrines in it's RCC area. Also set up a Deep tube well in a school to arrange clean drinking water. A regular project of this club is distributing new cloths to the orphans before Eid-ul-Fitre every year.
With Global grant support, the club has completed a 3-year-long CLUB FOOT project under are of focus "Disease prevention and treatment". This project was jointly organized with Rotary Club of Manosque, France. A French medical team operated surgery of 100 children (in total 5 phase) in Friendship Hospital (a floating Hospital in ship) at Gaibandha.
Besides these, the Club arranges and organizes many projects like Winter Cloth Distribution, Wheel Chair Distribution, Tree Plantation, Free Medical Camp, Scholarship for Unsolvant Students, Relief Distribution etc.
